Sedona News – Sedona Great Decisions will present the topic Science Across Borders on July 15th from 10 am to noon at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road. This presentation is open to the public and admission is free.

Member Carla Williams will explain the history of sharing information between international scientists in a variety of areas, such as medicine, nuclear power, AI, and climate. She will discuss when sharing information between countries began, why it occurred and how difficult it is to maintain in today’s environment. Guest speaker, Darcee Adam, P.Eng., M.Sc., PMP will discuss the Direct Air Capture (DAC) industry in the United States. Darcee is a Project Director for Climeworks, a Swiss company working in the US, and is accountable for the setup, project development and engineering activities from concept to start-up at the company’s US facilities.

2023 was the hottest year on record and 2024 will likely increase the global average temperature even more. On top of deep and rapid emission cuts, carbon removal is indispensable to reach global climate targets. Darcee will explain Direct Air Capture of CO2 and its importance to the world.
