Sedona News – The world has venerated Renaissance Men for centuries – but sadly, it seldom seems to make much noise about Renaissance Women.  In June, however, the Sedona Renegades Artist Group is out to remedy that.

The group is pleased to announce that Dr. Carol Gandolfo will be the featured artist and author for the month, and her latest book will be available in the gallery at the Sedona Center for Harmony and Enrichment in Hozho Center.

At the group’s First Friday reception on June 7 from 5-7:30 PM, Carol will be on hand to greet book lovers and sign copies of her newest novel, Random Access Murder.  The public is cordially invited to meet her plus the other resident artists and to enjoy their latest creations.

Carol has traversed many paths in life, and her drive to explore new ones has never wavered.  She started with a successful career at an aerospace company in California, during which she also earned a B.A. in Business Administration.  In addition, she became known as the photographer of the world famous and much-loved “Cinnamon” poster, depicting her cat’s highly ambivalent response to receiving a bath.

That all turned out to be the launchpad for her next passion, understanding and solving human problems.  After earning masters and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology, she embarked on a distinguished career as a California Licensed Psychologist.  She provided services for developmentally disabled adults and children plus behavior management services and forensic evaluations.

Things changed again – and didn’t – when she and her husband Rick moved to Sedona in 2007.   Carol has remained very active as a psychologist, but she also jumped enthusiastically back into the arts.  In addition to photography, she took up sculpting, pastels, acrylics, and oils.  She has studied under a veritable who’s who of master arts educators in Sedona, and if that weren’t already enough, she and Rick founded Gandolfo’s Art Studio, a vibrant teaching and mentoring art space.

She has also served as an indispensable member of the Critical Incident Team for the Sedona Fire Department and as the president of the Coalition Against Human Trafficking – Northern Arizona, and she now volunteers with the Sedona Police Department and is a member of the Arizona Crisis Team.

And on top of everything else, Carol has been writing, mostly for herself, since she was ten years old. After publishing several short stories over the years and winning a few awards while involved with writers’ groups in both California and Arizona, Carol published her first novel, The Tattoo Artist, in 2018.  She is now happy to introduce her second novel, Random Access Murder – and she is already cooking up the plot and characters for the next one!

Sedona Center for Harmony & Enrichment is a welcoming rental space for practitioners, artists, and event creators.  In addition to the Renegades art gallery, it hosts sessions, classes, and lectures in a wide range of healing disciplines.  For information on renting this space, contact Tatia Fick at (928) 554-1951 or visit www.SedonaCHE.com .

The Sedona Renegades Artist Group is well known for organizing exhibits in Sedona and has been in residence at SCHE since 2022.  Led by Jim Peterson, Carol Gandolfo, and Karen O’Donnell, the group features outstanding guest artists plus many fine works by its noted member artists.

Their exhibit can be viewed in the heart of gallery row on the upper level of Hozho Center, 431 State Route 179, Suite A6, Sedona, AZ 86336.  For more information, contact Jim Peterson at 602-828-7407 or Tatia Fick at (928) 554-1951.
