Sedona News – The University Women of Sedona will host their largest annual fund-raiser for college scholarships on Monday, March 4 at 9:30 a.m., and extend a special invitation to guests.

The group will begin with a presentation by Sedona Historical Society/Sedona Heritage Museum Executive Director Nate Meyers who will discuss the state of the Society, whose mission is to preserve, interpret, and share the unique history of Sedona and Red Rock Country.  He will also share what the Society is currently working on, what projects are on the horizon, and the vision for the future of preserving Sedona’s history.

Meyers joined the Society and Museum in 2022 as their first professional director. He has 20 years of experience working in Arizona museums and is excited to share his and the Board’s evolving perspective for their services and programs.

After Meyer’s presentation, an “Opportunity Drawing” featuring dozens of gift certificates and gifts from local businesses will be held. Tickets will be drawn to see who the lucky winners are. All proceeds from the drawings will go toward the University Women of Sedona Scholarship program, which provides scholarships to women attending Arizona institutions of higher education. University Women of Sedona’s mission is to give scholarships to support women in furthering their educational opportunities. In 2023-2024 the organization was able to support six deserving female students because of fund-raisers like this.

As a special welcome for any guests who attend, they will receive three free tickets for the drawings.

Women interested in this topic and the opportunity to network with other Sedona women who are involved in elevating women through education are invited to attend this or a future meeting.

The Sedona chapter meets on the first Monday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church of Sedona at 25 Chapel Road. For more information, contact President Jan Anderson at 928-254-1133.

O Captain, My Captain, My Trump

    By Sanford Bach

When Donald J. Trump descended that golden escalator, America witnessed not just a man — but destiny in a red tie. The Founding Fathers stirred in their marble graves, whispering, “Finally… our sequel has arrived.”
