logo_campverdecommunitylibraryCamp Verde AZ (May 5, 2017) – Where were you when man landed on the moon? What was going on in Camp Verde at the time? Is it true that Camp Verde paved Main Street for the first time the same day that Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon? Join Camp Verde Historical Society members, Nancy Tackitt and Jan Klann Monday, May 8 at 5:30pm at Camp Verde Community Library for an informal discussion around highlights on NASA’s timeline as they relate to Camp Verde’s history.

Included in the Discover NASA: From Our Town to Outer Space exhibition is a timeline showing significant dates in NASA’s history. Thanks to Camp Verde’s Historical Society, we have put together a similar timeline showing what was happening in our town around those same dates. But, no timeline is complete without people who remember “those days” telling their stories. Anyone with memories of Camp Verde is welcome to come and share them with the rest of us.

Camp Verde Community Library is located at 130 Black Bridge Road, Camp Verde AZ. The Discover NASA exhibition is free and open to the public during library hours, MON 9:00a – 8:00p, TUE-WED 9:00a-5:30p, THU-FRI 9:00a-8:00p, SAT 9:00a – 5:30p. For a full schedule of events, visit www.cvlibrary.org or call 928-554-8380.

    Chamber Effort to Target
    Affluent Tourists Derailed

    By Tommy Acosta
If you make less than $150,000 and thought of visiting Sedona you are not the target of a recently proposed marketing effort by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, focused on luring visitors that that are affluent. A request by the chamber for the city to release $225,000 from its marketing contingency plan to be used for destination marketing targeting people with money, was torpedoed at the Sedona City Council meeting of January 24. The chamber had hoped to use the contingency funds to bring tourists to Sedona that are well heeled and willing to spend scads of money rather than focusing marketing efforts on “day trippers” who come to the city to hike or spend little more than a day here exploring, off-roading, browsing the UpTown shops and spending little cash while clogging up the roads and making it difficult for locals to get around town.
