logo_leagueofwomenvotersSedona AZ (December 19, 2019) – The League of Women Voters Greater Verde Valley Voters Education Program, OLLI at Yavapai College – Sedona/Verde Valley, and Keep Sedona Beautiful present a stimulating discussion on fracking featuring Kevin Gibson on Monday, January 13, 2020, 12:30PM-2:00PM at Yavapai College, Room 34, 4215 Arts Village Drive, Sedona.

As fracking continues to spread, this issue is becoming even more relevant to all of us in Northern Arizona.  You’ll learn what fracking is, current leasing and drilling activities with particular emphasis on Northern Arizona, what occurs when fracking goes wrong, financial issues, and health effects.  An audience discussion and questions and answers will follow the presentation.

The session will be facilitated by Kevin Gibson.  Kevin has a BsC and PhD from the Mining Department, University of Nottingham UK.  He has worked worldwide in the extraction industry, the last 20 years of his career was with Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company.  In retirement he is volunteering for Protect our Water AZ and lives in Snowflake, AZ.

In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
