Somecity Nobodies will be playing on Saturday October 10th from 5-10pm.

20151001_somecity-nobody-pictureSomecity Nobodies are local residents B. D. and Abigail Boggs. They are an acoustic duo that covers so much territory with their music that they can best be described as “eclectic roots”. Their sound is a little like folk and a few shades of blue. Their music draws inspiration from all the different places they have lived- notably Abigail from upstate N.Y. and B. D. from outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana and all over the coasts of North America to where they were brought together in Nashville, TN. Their sound is influenced by the world, their deep love for each other, their children and their family’s unique sense of humor and outlook on life.

Somecity Nobodies has previously played at Verde Brewing Company in September to a full crowd. They are excited to return to the stage and share their music during Fort Verde Days.  In addition to live music, Verde Brewing Company will also have a Hatch Green Chili Burger with green chili pesto, bacon, and American cheese for $13. Fort Verde Days is Friday October 9th through Sunday October 11th . Verde Brewing Company is open daily from 11am to 9pm, and open until 10pm Friday and Saturday. They are located in the Historic Boler’s bar at 325 S. Main St. Camp Verde AZ 86322. For more information about their menu, visit www.VerdeBrewing.com.

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
