Sedona AZ (July 23, 2015) – July 21 at approximately 4:54 the Verde Valley Fire District responded to a medical emergency on a narrow trail off Oak Creek Valley. The crews arrived and quickly realized the patient was approximately 1.5 miles off of Oak Creek Valley Road and requested additional resources including Trail Rescue 311 to assist.
Once the crew made contact with the 15 year old patient they administered medical treatment and transported her on the Trail Rescue unit to an awaiting ambulance and then to Verde Valley Medical Center. The patient was apparently off road cycling with friends when her medical symptoms started.
A reminder to all is always having your emergency medication with you at all times. Four (4) VVFD apparatus and 6 personal were needed to mitigate this incident.
