… you can find that friendly deceiver in chief and much of his work at https://www.flickr.com/people/egofreed/; Eric does some absolutely fabulous bird and insect photos and one of the most beautiful humming birds I have ever seen is attached to this missive. On metal it absolutely blows your mind away … for some … that probably does not matter … 12 x 18 makes a nice print size if you are interested. Get in touch with Eric at egofreed@gmail.com and get the pricing from him.

A terrific day, work on a car, a fabulous soaring flight and visits with friends … and a most enjoyable session with a group discussion at Sedona Philosophy Center. Andrea Houchard who is an NAU professor in Philosophy in the Public Interest also put together various Salons on Philosophy in the Public Interest covering a wide variety of subjects over the past several years. There is going to be another “conversation” on July 14th and you can contact Andrea at: 928-274-8737 or email her at info@sedonaphilosophycircle.com .

In August I will be leading a series of four programs on Philosophy and Photography and I believe that will be at the Mary Fisher Theater in West Sedona. I’m working with Andrea and Matt on the format of this series; I do plan on an interactive format and beyond that it appears I have a month to put it together. Should be fun and please call or email Andrea for the particulars if you wish to sign up for the series.

Time to put a wrap on what was a wonderful day … I’m still breathing so it doesn’t get much better than that. Share your joy, a few smiles and enjoy some true health food … Dairy Queen Blizzard comes to mind … a Snickers one :+)

Cheers … my photos resume tomorrow night.

I’ll not bother to reform myself today.
Perhaps tomorrow — if it is raining,
and I must stay indoors, and meditate
    on the shortcomings of life.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
