… A friend and I headed over to Watson Lake in Prescott Friday afternoon and talk about water … up at least seven or more feet. I think because there is so much water in it now the predators are having some difficulty getting fish. We saw no Osprey, Eagles or other raptors; probably fewer than twenty Cormorants and maybe a dozen or so Blue Herons and too few ducks to think about. It was amazingly beautiful and the plan is to return this week and focus just on herons and some landscape at days end.

We pushed the limits with the Blue Herons and managed to get within thirty feet or so of them before they would fly … such was the case with this one who in the previous two images had gone from compressed legs to letting it all fly and I captured this shot of him fully extended and just leaving terra firma as he launched into a magnificently beautiful flight. I got about ten more shots in this sequence and will put them out another night.

It was a neat weekend … time with friends, at the airport and working on photos. Hope you had a terrific weekend too.

Monday is underway and everything points to a good day … reasonable probability that I’ll awake in the morning and to top that off, breathing, how fantastic is that? Sure makes the rest of the day better too … smile, like why not!

    Have a beautiful day

At nightfall…though I know I shall sometime no more
Open my eyes to the light or day, I am one who looks at stars when
Unchained from the work-bench at Nightfall.
They are a sign that I am not ephemeral,
Not you, nor you, whoever you are.
The dawn comes and the dark and the sign sparkling in the brooding night,
    Forever and forever.

Yes, That Was Biden at the
    State of the Union Address

    By Tommy Acosta
It was about three minutes into President Biden’s speech in his State of the Union address when I found myself searching for clues as to the speaker’s real identity. “It just couldn’t be him,” I thought. An imposter had taken his place and was getting away with it!” Where was the stumbling, fumbling, bumbling President America has grown to love? What the heck was going on? His demeaner was confident. He was lucid. He did not lose himself somewhere in his mind between sentences. He hardly referred to his notes and went on delivering his message in an almost totally coherent way. He even went off script when Republican hecklers using their doth-the-lady-protest too-loud defense against him, protesting loudly after being accused by Biden that they were out to wipeout Medicare and Social Security.
