… when words are not needed and such is the case with this elegant creature I encountered on a walk nearly eleven years ago … she is the Venus de Milo of the animal kingdom … unlike the beautiful statute of the ancient Greeks she will live on in digital format only … this is her as she presented herself to me on September 23, 2009, late in the afternoon.

Spend some time taking in the beauty that nature has provided us … what a gift to have our senses and be able to absorb the wonders that surround us … and to have gifted artisans who create paintings, monuments, statuary and art in every form and media to remember and honor the subjects they work with … then there are the intellectually and morally challenged individuals whose sole gift seems to be the destruction of that which they have no knowledge or understanding of.

Choose life … choose beauty and share the joy you find daily … it is a wonderful gift this thing we call life …

    Cheers,

    Ted

But from the brooding beauty of the night,
And daily dancing shafts of golden sun
The mystery and wonder of the world
That play the soundless music of the soul
And fill the heart with memory’s olden dreams
From these will come at last your faith in God.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
