    … we spent a few hours with blue birds at a little pond off of 89A south of Cottonwood early one morning. I took over 3,000 shots which has been winnowed down to a little over 500 of them and this one is among my favorites … at least tonight. They can be pushy and obnoxious to each other and many times incoming birds would push perched birds aside and sometimes off the perch. I’m looking forward to shooting them again.

    In the neighborhood of Ventura, California this weekend? If so stop in and see my friend Joanne Julian at her new exhibition at Vita Art Center. The exhibition is titled Night Flights and features her new work. From 4P to 7P complimentary champagne and hors d’oeuvres on Saturday the 31st . Vita Art Center, 28 West Main St, Ventura, Ca 93001.

    In Sedona?  Anthony Mazzella is playing Friday and Saturday nights at L’auberge de Sedona from 6P to 9P … a totally nice way to spend an evening.

    Finished a new computer build for a friend today and it is always cool when you plug it in, turn it on and it works … getting close to updating mine.

    Into the Labor day weekend … at last … Fall weather coming up soon. Have fun this weekend and enjoy time with family and friends.

    Back Monday morning

    Give me to gladly go my way and say no word of mine own woe; but let me smile each day.
    Give me the strength to do my task, I ask; and that I shall not rue the toilers grimy mask.
    Give one loved hand to me, and leave the eve all undisturbed as we our strength of souls retrieve.
    And lastly give sweet sleep, closed sight, no fright that fears will o’er me creep;
    And now a last good night.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
