… there is a small finger of water that goes back into a little valley on the south side of Lake Mary where one of the Osprey nests are. As we slowly entered the far end of the water we saw a great blue heron perched on a rock near the shore and he was highlighted by a shaft of light that was passing through the forest canopy. Eventually we drifted a little too close to him and he flew, but for a good minute we had the opportunity to shoot portraits of this regal creature. We needed paddles to get out of there as we had drifted into water that was less than a foot deep.

I had cushions custom made for Knot Yacht and what a difference they make in the overall comfort level of being on the lake. If you need any upholstery work done, give my friend Julie a call … Julie’s Upholstery 928.284.1123 or email her at jhjuliesupholstery01@gmail.com . Her work is phenomenal and she has a history with aviation too having been a hang glider pilot. Not so sure that I could have done that.

A quiet day catching up with things around here, including working on the online store. Finally have a formula that will work and will be putting about forty of the best photos into the gallery over the next week or so. If you would like to see how it is coming, check it out by clicking the online store link on www.tedgrussing.com and it will take you to the secure store. Currently there are greeting cards, my books and a few photo’s in the Abstract and Art gallery. The 2021 calendar will be available for purchase by the end of August and the cover image is now online.

Any and all photos including the one attached to this email are available for print … just send me an email for photos you would like and we’ll take care of it.

Have a beautiful day … keep breathing and keep smiling.

    Cheers

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
