By Ted Grussing
… this is the Great Egret, that refused to fly for me and Jim last week, resulting in about a thousand shots between us. I have my number down to about fifteen of him and it may go lower. Usually Egrets fly when you get anywhere close to them, not so this guy and we were within thirty or forty feet of him; had he done what we expected it is likely that we would have each had perhaps ten shots … after a few minutes it became kind of a sport with shutters clacking away around seven times per second … we knew he would fly, but even when we needed to use the paddles to push us out of shallow water, he still persisted in his quest for food. A lack of food was a greater threat than we were and I have photos of him nailing at least three small fish, but I like this shot of his steady and unflappable gait as he strolled by …

Today was one of those super days … nothing much accomplished, but time spent with and talking with friends and after I got home this evening and settled in to watch a good movie I got this kind of warm fuzzy feeling about the happiness of just being alive and enjoying the beauty of friends and family and all of nature around us … hope you have those kind of days too. Thinking today (Tuesday now) is going to be the same kind of day too …
Smile … live each minute of your life as there are only so many yet to come.
Cheers
Ted
A bird flies through the sky, and I fly with it. I am each pearl of moisture sparkling in the sun.
I lie lazy on the clouds. And I acknowledge my kinship with each winged thing.
I see all as one, and nothing repels me, as this new day climbs noiselessly out of the valley of the night.
Peace lies over the world and over the world of my soul.
