By Ted Grussing
… is the only way to describe what is a routine event in the life of a Great Blue Heron … I have 20 plus shots of the sequence where our friend went from regal upright figure, wading in the shallow water, to this strike where he explodes in an attack (successful) on a small fish that he spotted near him. Perhaps one of the really neat things in this shot is how he is using his wings to brake the movement forward and stabilize himself from pitching forward as the attack is launched.
Just a fun shot … have a beautiful day … keep breathing and smile … in the final analysis this is what is important … and freedom to pursue our lives like this heron … like the heron, our survival rests with us.
Cheers
Ted
