… and these three wild burros can only be classed as drinking buddies as they take a long drink from Lake Pleasant along the shore. All in all we saw several dozen burros today, along with Coyotes, Bald Eagles, Cormorants, Western Grebes, King Fishers, Black and Turkey Vultures, Great Blue Herons, North American Coots, and more than a few large fish jumping. It was by any standards a very successful shoot. I came home with1900+ shots and have now got it reduced to a little over 500 … another 200 have to go.

The ramp at the NW end of the lake is closed weekdays so we had to launch on the SW end of the lake … the new 15hp Mercury engine worked beautifully and got us back to the NW end of the lake quickly. It worked flawlessly except when when we were cruising slowly along the shore and a dock line got knocked off the end of the boat and wrapped itself around the prop … fortunately I carry a large pocket knife with a blade that has a serrated edge. We paddled into shore and Jim got out and cleared the prop. It continued to work very well except for a few times when I found myself in less than a foot of water … was focused on shooting and the engine was at idle … worth it 🙂

The plan is to be on the lake at least twice a week for the next several weeks before the left knee replacement on the 23rd … then there will be a temporary break for about six weeks … maybe seven. It was warm down there with temps around 104F … maybe cooler on Friday?

I’m going to send out a photo again tomorrow night … so many beautiful shots I want to share with you. Have a beautiful day … smile and choose to enjoy your life … every moment of it.

    Cheers

    The Bloody Machine
    By Tommy Acosta
What is a life anyway? A single “life?” Is it nothing more than a collection of emotions and thoughts, reverberating pain and pleasure, hopes, dreams and fear? Are we merely meat; flesh and blood creations encapsulating what we believe is a soul? Or is a single life the microcosm and macrocosm of human life on earth, each one of us a unique representation of who we believe we are and the whole of humanity at once? We are born. We grow old. We die. Everything we experience is but a dream between those two points. Or are we manifestations of a Divine Creator, every one of us complete in the image that we were made? So, we are told.
