… that is the assigned room for my workshops on April 22 and 25 at Church of the Red Rocks … time is 10AM. Wildlife photography will be the primary focus, but we will also cover other areas of interest to those who attend. No charge for the workshops and you do not have to be a member of the church to attend. If you enjoy the presentation a donation to the church is appreciated.

Finished the broad selection of images for the book today and now it is the paring from a little over five hundred images to less than 100. Create Space does not currently offer binding on the 8.5” side so the formatting is going to be a bit of a challenge to produce the book. In the alternative I could go with the table top book mfg.’s, but then I would be looking at a price point well over $100.00 so it will be creative formatting with Create Space which is an Amazon company and keep the price point below $50.00. Publish date of mid-June is looking very doable. Really fun going through all the photos; easy going from a little over 2000 down to 500 and now the tough part cutting to about 100.

Down to Nate’s Cowboy Restaurant in Cottonwood with a couple of friends and dinner and fun with a bunch of pilots.  Home, and as I started looking for a photo to use tonight found myself in a strangely beautiful mood to delete a bunch of photos. More than 700 photos hit the bit bucket … mostly some very beautiful aerial shots, but better ones remain. Whilst going through the photos from last October and November I found a few where I had just shot the water in one of the ponds when the winds were up and the reflections were pretty cool … thinking that it might also be very thin sheets of algae in the water but hard to tell … whatever, the reason for taking the shot is pretty obvious … it is a beautiful pattern of colors and texture in a very fluid state :+)

Started today with a sense of relaxation, five shots of espresso in a 20 oz. SF Vanilla latte (followed by another one) and then proceeded to make three eggs fried and chopped (thank you Kathy and Brian) and three strips of bacon … a little fruit thrown in to ease the guilt!  That’s not really true … there was no guilt I love that kind of food!

Another busy day underway and doing a shoot with friends from out of town in the afternoon and a writing session with a friend in the evening. Hoping for winds to abate soon and plans are for the next flight to be north to Page and Lake Powell … been a while since I have been up there. The beauty of the Lake and the emissions from the Navajo Generating plant are calling.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy what is gifted to you each moment … and share a smile or three … no limit on how much joy you can bring to others.

    Cheers

And over every lake, and over the crest of every hill, and over the green level of every open field,
and if we could but see,
over the sky-obscuring houses of every city …is God painting His revelation.

    What Would I Change?
    By Amaya Gayle Gregory

What would I change if I could? You and I both know I can’t, but it’s a fun exercise anyway. I would have been less of a know-it-all on my spiritual journey. It seems to be a side-effect of the path. Spiritual folks develop an all-knowing buffer to protect against their inevitable surrender to the unknown, but understanding that now didn’t make it gentler on me or those I loved, let alone those that I deemed not capable of getting it 😉 Yeah … I’d have dropped the spiritual snob act. I’d have recognized that spiritual radicals are only different on the outside from radical right Christians, and that the surface doesn’t really matter as much as I thought. We are all doing our couldn’t be otherwise things, playing our perfect roles. I’d have learned to bow down humbly before my fellow man, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. We’re all in this together and not one of us will get out alive. Read more→
