    … ’twas a glorious day to be on the lake today and wildlife was everywhere. The shot above is of an Egret that was perched on a branch in the water … reflections from the water make an incredible display on the lower side of his wings and water trails from his foot as he ascends into flight. Below a Turkey Vulture patiently waits for meal to appear for him … perhaps a fish left behind by another predator? Discovered an island being used as a rookery for Great Blue Herons; they and their nests were everywhere.

    The lake is down about two feet since the last time I was down there and over the course of the summer another twenty or so more feet of water will be released … mostly for agriculture, but some for municipal purposes.

    Been a long day and only ended up with three hours rest before I got up and we left for the lake.

    Way behind on answering emails and hope to catch up by the weekend.

    Have a beautiful day

    Ted

    And though age and infirmity overtake me,
    and I come not within sight of the castle of my
    dreams, teach me still to be thankful for life, and
    for time’s olden memories that are good and sweet;
    and may the evening’s twilight find me gentle still.

    There’s No Place Like Home (RULE)
    By Tommy Acosta
    Sigh.
    How often do I have to repeat myself? Home Rule, rules! Nobody wants to hear the phrase No Home Rule because it implies one does not have the right to rule their home. It sits in the unconscious and messes with the concept of one’s ability to rule at home. And then there is the word “imposed” as in State-Imposed Expenditure Limitation (SIEL). Who the heck wants the state imposing anything on our town? For that matter, who wants anyone imposing anything upon them, period! To impose means “to force (something unwelcome or unfamiliar) to be accepted or put in place.” And the synonyms are even worse: foist, force, thrust, inflict, obtrude, press, urge. The concept is distasteful to any freedom lover. Read more→
