    … I drove up to the Arboretum in Flagstaff today to pick my greeting cards up as the Arb is closing for the season. After picking up the card rack I belted it into the back seat and continued up Wood Mountain Road a ways until I got to Rogers Lake, which currently is not in true lake form as you can see below … cattle were grazing out on the lake bed and the San Francisco Peaks were spectacular in the distance.

    The shot above I took from approximately the same angle, but I was about 700′ higher and the lake had water in it. In the aerial shot there is a dark outline of a volcanic cone above the lake and that is the A-1 cone and to the right of the peaks is Mt. Elden. These two geologic features are absent from the land shot as the trees are blocking them. The view is from the WSW looking to the ENE. Regardless of whether you are on the ground or in the air, it is a spectacular view.

    I also hit Lake Mary, Mormon Lake and Ashurst Lake today. What fun!

    I’ve got dozens of places that I have shot from the air that I have never visited on the ground … that is my current objective; to visit these places and get shots from approximately the same angle as the aerial shot and pair them up like this. Have a couple of volcanic cones I want to do before the snow flies! It is just incredible having two good legs (2 knee replacements last year) to get out and do things with now as well as hip replacement and spinal surgery too, but what the heck, being alive is just such a cool thing! Blessed daily … breathing and smiling and friends and family.

    Into the weekend for me … tomorrow I am finishing the processing on a photo shoot I did, Friday down to Lake Pleasant with a friend and look for wildlife to shoot … a weekend filled with fun events and the plan is to be back Monday morning. Enjoy the moment you are living and share the joy you find in life.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Give me to gladly go
    My way
    And say
    No word of mine own woe;
    But let me smile each day.

    Give me the strength to do
    My task
    I ask;
    And that I shall not rue
    The toiler’s grimy mask.

    Give one loved hand to me,
    And leave
    The eve
    All undisturbed as we
    Our strength of souls retrieve.
    Evening Song, by Max Ehrmann
