By Ted Grussing
… in progress … it has been going on for hundreds of millions of years and this is where it is as of 4:59PM today. The elements of nature continue to sculpt the earth, create new mountains and take others down. The seas rise and the seas fall … glaciers recede and build up again … CO2 levels rise and recede as does everything else that makes up this odd little planet we call home … every day is new and every day is different … change is the one constant we can expect during the short time we are here.
Rain is scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon and be rather constant for the next three days … Friday morning I plan to be in the air that has been washed and cleansed and shall remain so until the burning begins again. It will be like diving into the pristine water of a pool formed by a mountain spring rather than a septic tank. Working on the contacts to write, call and explain what these constant burns are doing to your health … to your business if you rely on tourism. Stay tuned.
About a third of the way up on the left edge of the photo you can see Schnebly Hill Road and up a little to the right, the parking lot at the trail head. The mittens are the upper formations and I have no idea what they call the lower range. I like it and the evening sun was doing its thing to the rocks. There was substantial interference with the light from clouds behind Mingus and also the smoke which greatly reduced the intensity of the light arriving on the rocks … still, it is beautiful.
Have a beautiful day and think rain and clean air again!
Cheers
Ted
