    … the book. I’ve been struggling with choices for the cover of my new book and finally I came up with one that I think works nicely for it. The title of the book is “Just A Moment … in time” and sub title is, “through the lens, eyes and mind of Ted Grussing”. I tried elk, airscapes, blue birds and many others. I really liked the portrait of the elk until I fit the title with this photo. I think it works.

    So this is it for a preview of the book, and I’m still hoping to have it available by the end of next month; May at the latest. The review process takes a while, but the best of the best are working on it and I want it to be a work of art, both in photos and text. There are 150 pages in the book and 68 photos with individual pages of text. The photos are all 5” x 7” or 7” x 5” in size and the trim size of the book is 9” x 9”.

    So this is it for the week and I’m into my long weekend. Hope to have some great new shots from Filoli Gardens and the pacific coastline for you next week.

    Have a magnificent day and weekend … enjoy time with friends and family and find joy in your daily life and smile.

    Cheers

    I bring but this one common thought, my life has wrought;
    That from the dregs of drear despair, still everywhere
    There is a joy I yet may sip – Tis comradeship
    With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
