On the anniversary of the passing of Matthew Turner, I want to salute this Sedona Environmental Hero and dear friend to many of us. I was so proud of my handsome partner, Will and Grace style, for guiding our dream of making Sedona the Shining Green Capital of America!
Only a few knew what he overcame to be able to even come to Sedona, where he united 60 businesses to eliminate pesticiding along the main highway, which stopped some from getting blisters. We then shifted the city to green cleaning, which saved about $25,000 a year, so the city’s lawyer no longer passed out at her desk.
Matthew had Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS) since the late 80s, like millions, from toxic buildup. His was mainly from a car accident where he was covered with an popular liquid detergent that destroyed his immune system and he became a bubble boy, confined to his home in the South for five years.
Matthew said, “When I finally looked like an Auschwitz escapee, I had a divine intervention that told me to go to Sedona. So I said, ‘Wow, thank you, that’s a beautiful place to die.’ But they said ‘No, we have a job for you.'” And they sent him to a naturopath who helped him get rid of his allergies to almost all food groups. It was discovered by a Chinese woman and helped him make an unprecedented comeback. He also helped restore my health from elevated cancer cells by also getting rid of my allergies despite eating organics, plus shifting me from the green-sounding toxic household and beauty products that harm our health and Mother Earth, to all natural ones.
With our health restored Matthew’s spirit guides told him to run for Mayor in 2008. He said they told him that I needed to also run for a Council seat to ensure he got the votes to help restore this most ancient sacred pilgrimage site and portal between our worlds, after I told him “Absolutely NO WAY.”
He didn’t win but together we helped keep Sedona’s starry skies, educate people to shift to natural products and protect the sacred vortices from basically putting condos on them. Our Native American Olympic Team Foundation (NAOTF.org) also organized a snowdance that resulted in the Ski Bowl getting snowed in, making it unnecessary to use water with hospital drug waste on its San Francisco Peak headwaters to protect the water of the Southwest, including Sedona.
Because our lives were threatened during the campaign, and then not protected, Matthew’s spirit guides had us move to Tucson and paradisial Puerto Vallarta. Despite Sedona’s police brilliantlyproving the finger prints on the threat letter belonged to a close friend of the winner, for the sake of Matthew’s vulnerable health, why it was a secret, we left.
Thanks to the wonderful Sedona people I was deeply honored they voted me a seat on the Sedona Council when the enlightened Mexican-American member left town, but I was already in the process of moving. Yet I was so happy that my leaving allowed former Mayor Pudd to take my seat as she was a champion of water and the tribes, hosting the Hopi Water Runners.
I was thrilled that Matthew just finished writing the amazing true story about his Sedona and Universal adventures when he returned to Arizona. His Elohim spirit guides gave him the name “Sun Spirit,” after first helping him cope as an adopted child and to find his higher purpose. Matthew was in alot of pain in the last few years that he never showed, and we KNOW that he is much happier free and cruising around the universe.
He touched and lifted a lot of lives in Sedona. Perry, Sakina, Connie & Andrew, Sperry, Marie, the Kusiniches and many members of the spiritual, political, healing, press and environmental communities join me in sending love to Matthew’s sweet sister Heather.
