    Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the encore and theatrical release of “The Kiss” showing May 16-21 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.

    “The Kiss” was one of the top audience-rated films at the recent Sedona International Film Festival.

    From the Oscar-award winning director Bille August and based on Stefan Zweig’s classic short story Beware of Pity, “The Kiss” is a romantic drama set against the backdrop of 1913 Denmark at the start of World War I, following the journey of Anton Abildgaard, a noble cavalry officer, hoping to complete his military training with distinction.

    After helping the local Baron Løvenskjold out of a tough situation one day with his automobile, he is invited to join him and his family for dinner at their castle, where he meets the Baron’s beautiful wheelchair bound daughter, Edith. The two begin spending more and more time together as Edith slowly falls in love and Anton struggles with being able to discern if his feelings for her are genuine or merely out of pity, all while the ominous threat of the first World War looms over them.

    “The Kiss” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres May 16-21 Showtimes will be Friday, Sunday and Monday, May 16, 18 and 19 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, May 17 at 12:30 p.m.; Tuesday, May 20 at 4:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, May 21 at 3:30 p.m.

    The Sedona City Council through a majority consensus voted 5–1 at its Wednesday, August 13, special meeting, to temporarily shelve a controversial auto license-reading surveillance program, with council members  Melissa Dunn, Kathy Kinsella  Brian Fultz,  Derek J. Pfaf and Pete Furman giving a thumbs down,  and Sedona Mayor Scott Jablow supporting the cameras.
