Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “Emilia Pérez”, showing Jan. 24-29 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
“Emilia Pérez” is the winner of four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy and Best Motion Picture Non-English Language. It was nominated for a total of 10 Golden Globes. The film is shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, among several others.
From renegade auteur Jacques Audiard comes “Emilia Pérez”, an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations. Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of four remarkable women in Mexico, each pursuing their own happiness.
The fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón) enlists Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her true self.
Written and directed by Audiard, the double Cannes-winning film also stars Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, and Edgar Ramírez.
“Emilia Pérez” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre Jan. 24-29. Showtimes will be Friday, Saturday and Wednesday, Jan. 24, 25 and 29 at 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 26, 27 and 28 at 4:00 p.m.
