    Northern Arizona SCORE Call for Volunteers

    Use Your Business Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to Help Others. Become a SCORE Volunteer Business Mentor in Northern Arizona

    logo_scoreVerde Valley AZ (January 24, 2013) – The Northern Arizona Chapter of SCORE is calling out to all people with experience in business to use their business knowledge, skills and abilities to help others by becoming a SCORE Volunteer Business Mentor in Northern Arizona.

    SCORE Volunteer Mentors meet with clients to provide free business counseling and direction in face-to-face meetings at one of the SCORE offices in Northern Arizona, via telephone conferences and emails. The 35 Northern Arizona SCORE Mentors have experiences spanning a variety of businesses and business environments in the public and private sectors and not-for-profit entities. Mentors quite often meet with clients in group meetings, so no Volunteeer Mentor need feel like they need ot know everything — there is lots of support from SCORE at the local and national level.

    SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals through education and mentorship. We have been doing this for nearly fifty years. Because the work of SCORE is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and thanks to our network of 12,000+ volunteers, SCORE is able to deliver counseling services to small business startups and existing small businesses at no charge. SCORE also conducts low-cost local business building workshops throughout the year.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
