Set for Feb. 27, The Sanctuary Open to benefit survivors of domestic and sexual violence
SEDONA, Ariz. — In effort to raise funds and awareness for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Verde Valley Sanctuary (VVS) announced a partnership with Seven Canyons to host an inaugural charity golf event in 2027.
“The Sanctuary Open,” set for Saturday, Feb. 27, at the exclusive Seven Canyons Golf Club in Sedona, will offer 18 holes of golf at one of the most beautiful courses in the southwestern part of the United States.
“We are pleased to announce what is surely to be an exclusive and fun event in 2027 at Seven Canyons. After the success of the Casino Night last year, we knew that the community would be ready to support us again in the very near future,” VVS Chief Philanthropy Officer Brian Bergner said.
VVS raised nearly $125,000 at their inaugural Casino Night in late 2025.
“Seven Canyons has one of the best and most beautiful courses in all of Arizona, if not the entire country, so we appreciate their willingness to host our event and help raise money for survivors of domestic violence,” Bergner added.
Set to be the premier charity golf event in northern Arizona in 2027, The Sanctuary Open has 100 tickets to sell, with 50 additional tickets for dinner only. Tickets can be purchased at VerdeValleySanctuary.org. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and tee time at Seven Canyons is scheduled for 11 a.m. sharp.
“We love the later tee time, which you normally don’t see at a charity golf event. And the fact that we can do it on a Saturday is also a premium opportunity,” Bergner said. “This later tee time will be excellent for a late-February golf event in the area, so we expect a sunny early spring afternoon day in Sedo
Tickets for individuals are set at $400 per golfer, and $1,400 per foursome. If a supporter doesn’t golf, but still wants to attend dinner, tickets are just $125 for the early-evening part of the event. Early-bird pricing is available ($375/$1,350/$10
Included in the ticket is 18 holes of golf at beautiful Seven Canyons, range balls and golf cart. All golf tickets include dinner, which is slated to begin around 4:30 p.m. after golfers come in from the course. Prizes for Best Team, Most Honest Team, a straightest drive challenge, and more are all included.
The Sanctuary Open will also host a few fun side games throughout the afternoon, including a Hole-In-One Challenge sponsored by Larry Green Chevrolet where one golfer could win up to $30,000 toward a new Chevrolet of their choice.
Also joining the day’s fun will be a professional golfer from BackSwing Golf, which will host a “Beat the Pro” game, and potentially a Drone Drive and Air Cannon game. The Beat the Pro game will be played against a current professional golfer on a Par 3 at Seven Canyons where a participant can purchase raffle tickets for $5 at a chance to beat her shot and win double the entries. The raffle prize is a $300 gift card to Bad Birdie, a golf apparel shop.
The Drone Drive consists of golfers being able to watch as a drone flies away with their golf ball to the green with a chance at making a hole in one on a drop. Lastly, the Air Cannon game offers a unique way to launch a golf ball onto the green from the tee box, giving the participating golfer the best chance at an eagle. Both games are subject to availability.
And if that isn’t enough, The Sanctuary Open will also host a silent auction where golfers and dinner goers can bid online throughout the day, and VVS supporters will be able to make their donation during a paddle raise to wrap up the event.
“The Sanctuary Open allows our donors, supporters and others who may be outside of our community to not only play at a premier private golf course but also support Verde Valley Sanctuary and the survivors we serve every day,” Bergner said.
Visit VerdeValleySanctuary.org, navigate to the “Events” tab and click “The Sanctuary Open” for more information. All silent auction items will be posted online for viewing prior to the tournament.
