    Nonprofit Organizations Invited to Apply for Funding Through Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona

    logo_arizonacommunityfoundationSEDONASedona AZ (February 11, 2016) – The annual competitive grants process of the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona will provide financial support to worthy projects and programs serving residents of Sedona and the Verde Valley. The online application for funding requests is now open and accessible at www.azfoundation.org/grants. Applications must be submitted before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 to be considered.

    Nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities and Tribal entities are invited to apply for funding. The Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona accepts funding requests in amounts ranging from $500 to $10,000. Grant funding is available in varying amounts to support animal welfare, the arts, diversity education, environmental programs, healthcare and programs that strengthen the communities and local nonprofit organizations of Sedona and the Verde Valley.

    Last year, the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona awarded more than $180,000 to 41 community organizations in the Sedona area through this competitive grant process. Since inception, the Arizona Community Foundation of Sedona has awarded more than $3.4 million in grants and scholarships to area organizations and students.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols

    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
