Sedona News – The Mary D. Fisher Theatre is honored to be the home for the Met Live Opera programs for the 2022-2023 season, presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. The season continues with Richard Strauss’s “Der Rosenkavalier” live via simulcast on Saturday, April 15 at 9 a.m. and the encore presentation on Wednesday, April 19 at 3 p.m.
Plan to come early as Ed Ingraham will lead a pre-opera talk one hour before the LIVE production on Saturday.
A dream cast assembles for Strauss’s grand Viennese comedy. Soprano Lise Davidsen is the aristocratic Marschallin, opposite mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as her lover, Octavian, and soprano Erin Morley as Sophie, the beautiful younger woman who steals his heart. Bass Günther Groissböck returns as the churlish Baron Ochs, and Markus Brück is Sophie’s wealthy father, Faninal. Maestro Simone Young takes the Met podium to oversee Robert Carsen’s staging.
The Met Live Opera’s “Der Rosenkavalier” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday, April 15 at 9 a.m. (live simulcast) with an encore on Wednesday, April 19 at 3 p.m. The pre-opera talks will take place one hour before the live Saturday simulcast. Tickets are $25 general admission, $22 for Film Festival members, and $15 for students. Tickets are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 928-282-1177.
