    Ginger
    In-Take Date of November 2015
    Animal ID# 11695
20160101_hss_gingerHi, my name is Ginger and I am just 2 years old and am considered a Shepherd mix breed type of dog. I arrived at the Humane Society of Sedona having been surrendered after I had a litter of puppies. I was a good mother to my babies and know that the hardest part of being a mom is saying goodbye to your children when it is time to let them “leave the den” so to speak and start their own lives. It was a hard thing to do but I am the stronger for it! I hope they all found loving homes.

I am now a spayed female, understanding that I can no longer produce puppies but honestly . . . I am glad. I hear that being “spayed or neutered” is the popular thing now because it helps with maintaining and controlling overpopulation of homeless animals. I would not want to be homeless without food or shelter. I am glad to be here at the Humane Society of Sedona. The staff and volunteers treat me with such love and affection.

Please consider adopting me . . . I promise I will be your best friend. I am sweet, playful and can be mellow after I have had my energetic moments. I am a young girl who does like to play.

If you would like to know more about Ginger, please call (928)282-4679 or log on to our website at www.HumaneSocietyofSedona.org

    Peaches
    In-Take Date of July 2015
    Animal ID# 10597
20160101_hss_peachesMy name is Peaches and I am a 3 year old, neutered male cat. I am what they call a Tabby cat and I have beautiful orange/peachy colored fur. I have soulful eyes and truly love people. I am sweet, affectionate and love not only people but other cats.

I came into the shelter as surrender because as much as I am a very good boy; I do have a mind of my own and would do best with an experienced cat handler. I am smart, witty and quite inter-active. I am a real showbiz kind of persona cat.  Honestly . . . I am just a fun loving young male. The staff and volunteers love me because I have such personality. Just ask them or better yet . . . come visit me and see for yourself!

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
