Phoenix AZ (April 16, 2013) – Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff is closed in both directions between Twin Arrows and Winslow (mileposts 219-252) because of strong winds and limited visibility, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
There is no estimate for when the highway will reopen.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the area until 8 a.m. and a high wind warning until 7 p.m. Winds were forecast to increase from 30 mph this morning to 40-45 mph this afternoon, with gusts to 55-65 mph. High winds are expected from Seligman (mile 123) to the New Mexico state line.
