Sedona AZ (December 21, 2012) – Sedona Public Library started its holiday celebration with the Friends of Sedona Library’s Festival of Wreaths Gala in mid-November. Once again, this kickoff to the holidays was a fundraiser for the Library that provided an enjoyable evening for all who attended. If you missed the event, you can capture the highlights by visiting the Library’s YouTube page at http://links.sedonalibrary.org/youtube or visiting our website.
Under the direction of Youth Services Librarian Karen Mack, a variety of holiday events will be held for children: on Saturday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m., story time will focus on Kwanzaa, which is an African-American celebration; on Wednesday, December 26 from 1 to 4 p.m., games (including Kinect) will be offered in the Community Room for ages 10 and up; on Thursday, December 27 at 10:30 a.m., we’re holding a story time for ages newborn to 3, and at 1 p.m., it’s Lego time for ages 6 and up (bring your own Lego or play with the Library’s); on Friday, December 28 at 1 p.m., we’re showing a family movie.
During the sometimes gloomy days of winter and throughout the year, the Library is a cheerful place to connect not only with information resources but also with people. We invite you to come to the Library this holiday season and throughout the year and strike up a conversation with one of the staff, a volunteer, or another patron. Learn about a subject that is foreign to you. Check out a novel, audio book, or entertaining DVD. Attend one of the many programs offered by the Library or other groups that use the meeting rooms. Reach out to friends and family by using one of our Internet computers to access e-mail.
Upcoming displays are certain to brighten your day. The Library’s Quilt Exhibit opens on Thursday, December 27 and continues through mid-February. This is always a colorful event that banishes any post-holiday doldrums.
As part of the ongoing Sedona Public Library in the Village Rotating Artist Series, the photography of Len Lewis will be displayed at SPL-V until January 5. The show is entitled “New Angles on Old Rocks.” Chuck Schug will be displaying his photography at the Village location in Tequa Marketplace starting January 8.
