    Fort Verde State Historic Park Hosts
    Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day Event

    Arizona State ParksCamp Verde AZ (March 14, 2018) – Arizona State Parks and Trails is hosting the sixth annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, held in the Verde Valley and Northern Arizona. Six years ago, the US Senate officially declared March 30 as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.”

    Recognizing “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” is a gesture of acceptance, gratitude and honor to the members of our community who risked their lives to serve our country during the Vietnam War – this includes the veterans and their families. 

    The event kicks off with an honor ride through Sedona, Cottonwood, and Clarkdale, returning through Cottonwood and ending at Fort Verde State Historic Park in Camp Verde.  A full color guard will open the festivities at the park at 1 p.m. and lower the flag to close the event at 3 p.m.The event will include entertainment, food and Veteran’s informational booths. 

    WHAT: Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day – this event is free, as is entrance to Fort Verde State Historic Park on this Saturday.

    WHERE: Fort Verde State Historic Park – located in downtown Camp Verde at 125 E. Holloman St. The main entrance is two blocks on the right side.

    WHEN: Saturday, March 31 starting at 1 p.m. The event will also include an escorted motorcycle ride starting at 11:10 a.m. in Sedona at the Elks Lodge, 110 Airport Road. Visit azstateparks.com/fort-verde/.
