Camp Verde News – UPDATE – On 05-11-2024 at approximately 2022 hours, Camp Verde Marshals Office Deputies responded to a report of a head on collision involving two passenger vehicles in the vicinity of State Route 260 at Mile post 220.
The initial investigation revealed that 47-year-old Jose Guzmen Valderrama was traveling east bound in a Red Honda on SR 260. For unknown reasons, Guzmen Valderrama crossed over the median into the Westbound lanes of SR 260 striking a Silver Nissan driven by 49-year-old Camp Verde Resident, Alicia Chagolla who was pronounced deceased on scene.
Guzmen Valderrama was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for his injuries. Once released from the hospital, his whereabouts were unknown.
On 05-30-2024, after further investigation by the Camp Verde Marshals Office Criminal Investigations Units (CIU), Guzmen Valderrama was located at a residence in Rimrock and arrested. He was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on multiple charges including second degree homicide and aggravated assault.

Chagolla was pronounced deceased on scene. Her female passenger was taken by ambulance to the local hospital for suspected minor injuries. Guzmen Valderrama was flown to Flagstaff for his injuries.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Collision Reconstruction team was called to assist with the investigation. This investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. Impairment is suspected. The Marshals Office would like to thank those who stopped to help and called 911 as well as the other First Responders on scene.
