    Celebrate spring with two April 15 community

    City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (March 27, 2017) – Celebration of spring 9 a.m. to noon
    Join Parks and Recreation on Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m.-noon for this fun, family-friendly event. The multi-use field will be the site of games and vendors, with carnival rides, bounce houses, face painting and more. An egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. children 12 and younger, with children divided into four age groups. More than 21,000 eggs will be waiting to be found, the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos, and local businesses will host interactive displays.

    Celebration of Spring is $5 for children 12 and younger, free for adults. Tickets go on sale April 3 at the Sedona Parks and Recreation office at 525 Posse Ground Rd, or by phone at (928) 282-7098. Day-of-event cash ticket sales only at the gate.

    Celebration of Tween 3-6 p.m.
    Later on April 15, 5th through 8th graders own the field at the Celebration of Tween event. From 3-6 p.m. the multi-use field will be transformed into a middle school fun zone complete with an indoor inflatable laser tag arena, carnival rides, henna tattoos, and food for sale. Parents are welcome to stay, but we ask that you keep the littles at home for this event.

    Cost is $5 per student. Avoid lines by purchasing tickets in advance at the Parks and Recreation office at 525 Posse Ground Rd. or by calling (928) 282-7098. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 3. Cash ticket sales only at the gate.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols

    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
