Oak Creek Watershed Council will host two day educational Earth Day events, cleanup included Sedona AZ (April 15, 2015) – In celebration of our blue planet, the Oak Creek Watershed Council (OCWC)will host several events over the course of two days.  On Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 the Friends of Oak Creek will provide educational outreach at the Sedona Wetland Preserve from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and later that day at Weber’s IGA Food and Drug in the Village of Oak Creek from 1:00 pm to 4 pm.

Sedona AZ (April 15, 2015) – The City of Sedona is accepting applications to fill one position on the Board of Adjustment.  The term of service for this voluntary position is three years.  The term begins immediately and ends on December 31, 2015. The Board of Adjustment conducts hearings regarding requests for variances from the Sedona Land Development Code applicable to zoning regulations and hears appeals regarding interpretations made by the City’s Zoning Administrator.

Phoenix AZ (April 14, 2015) – Feeding America released new Map the Meal Gap data today revealing almost 1 in 5 Arizonans (17.5%), or 1.16 million people, struggled with food insecurity in 2013 – essentially unchanged from the 17.8% figure from 2012.  When a household suffers from food insecurity, it means they may at times lack access to or the ability to afford enough food to feed their household.  The national food insecurity rate in 2013 was 15.8%.

Prescott Valley AZ (April 13, 2015) – At approximately 3:30PM on April 11, YCSO deputies were called to an aircraft down on Morning Star Ranch Road, east of Coyote Springs Road in Prescott Valley. EMS personnel were already on scene from the Central Yavapai Fire District and pronounced the male pilot deceased. The pilor has been identified as 74-year-old Robert Bauman of Prescott.

Sedona AZ (April 11, 2015) – Sedona Recycles is hosting a Sustainability Fair Fundraiser on April 19th. The event is from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Community Recycling Center on 2280 Shelby Drive in Sedona. Free admission, all donations and proceeds assist Sedona Recycles with operating costs.  The event begins with coffee and Wildflower bagels in the lobby, followed by a screening of the documentary “Loved to Death” by the Oak Creek Watershed Council at 11:30. The Verde Valley School’s   Recycled Runway fashion show starts at 1:30, followed by glass bottle bowling at 2:15.
