Sedona AZ (May 9, 2019) – This year, the Sustainability Alliance declared Earth Day Month. At least thirty-five different groups held Earth Day events in the Verde Valley during April involving well over 6000 people. (Roughly half of the events reported their participation to us estimated at 5924). Events ranged from the Yavapai/Apache/Camp Verde Earth Day Celebration to Sedona’s household hazardous waste collection which collected 8,770 lbs. of hazardous waste and 17,237 lbs. of electronics.
Flagstaff AZ (May 9, 2019) – The Flagstaff Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest has begun selling commercial firewood permits for six areas of live “shaggy bark” juniper trees near Yeager Canyon that will provide approximately 10 cords of wood in each area.Permits cost $50 and can only be purchased at the Flagstaff Ranger Station, across from the Flagstaff Mall at 5057 N. By Ted Grussing… to enter another domain … for whatever reason the Flower of the Argentine Giant cactus reminds me of the singularity of Greg Bear’s Eon. It is an entrance into other worlds and dimensions. I never tire of shooting them and took a bunch more today … this one on my afternoon walk. Shot it with my Canon 1DX and the 100/400mm lens. It is not necessary to always use a macro lens when shooting flowers and for me I like the flexibility of ability to pull in subjects when on a walk.

Sedona AZ (May 8, 2019) – The city of Sedona will make improvements to the Wetlands Preserve adjacent to the Wastewater Treatment Facility, requiring brief closures.On May 10-11, crews will resurface the walkway around Pond 1. This will require a complete closure of the park on those two days for safety.
