Sedona News – When it comes to healing from domestic violence, it helps to have people you can talk to on a regular basis. Advocates at Verde Valley Sanctuary (VVS) understand that healing from domestic violence and abuse takes time and support. VVS’s objective is to provide a safe place to share knowledge, build coping skills, empower, and facilitate healing. No matter what phase of life you are…

By Tommy Acosta Sedona AZ: I am a child of the 60’s — a proud Baby Boomer. I came awake during the summer of 1968, when the war in Vietnam was raging and so many of my generation were being sacrificed and maimed in the name of freedom and of profit. I was one of those college students that grew their hair long, marched against the war and demonstrated in the streets of Washington D.C. At that time, we, the youth, understood that behind all conflict the profit motive lurked. We knew that an element exists in the world that…
… so we left for the Gilbert Riparian Water Park at 5AM this morning and for me it was going to be an intense training in the use of my new 800 mm f/11 lens on the Canon R5 body … no back up lens, just the big gun! It is the equivalent of going duck hunting with a .30 cal rifle and leaving the 12 ga shotgun at home. There were a lot of shots I automatically excluded myself from getting, like large birds flying directly at us, but I was able to grab a lot of smaller birds…
By Michael Schroeder Sedona, AZ: You get what you vote for. This doesn’t happen by accident. The voters keep putting people on the council who have never built anything, or who are ideologues and have never had the money or resources to try their experiments which most of the time don’t work. You vote for incompetence, they hire incompetence (not all of course but many) and expect what, a different outcome? Now we have a council that funds what appears to be a quasi-government — the Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Bureau with an operational budget of a million or…

By Amaya Gayle Gregory Let’s talk about love. Love may just be one of the most misunderstood words ever. What passes for love, is misunderstood, underestimated, personalized, reified, compartmentalized and often exploited. Love for most, is transactional. If you give me what I want and need, I will love you. If you don’t, I won’t. It’s a love that can be withdrawn, withheld, that can be present one moment and vanish in the next. One of the many problems with being a desire fulfiller is it is impossible to give someone what they really want. Your lover might think he…
