By Stevid There is a mind-side to the mental health problem of social media. This should at least be expressed, as an approach to safety, while other technical interventions proceed. So far, every adjustment that has been made by social media companies, as well as AI chatbot companies to mitigate mental health effects have been technical. They include age-restrictions, time-limits, alert to someone else, tracking of usage patterns and so forth. While these are helpful, whatever time is used on the app is still opaque for users to know what the mind is doing. So, providing a dynamic flowchart, as…
What Happens When Public Schools, Charter Schools and Taxpayer-Funded Private Choice All Compete for the Same Children—and the Same Public Dollars By Bear Howard and Associates Note: This is more than an essay. It is, in many ways, a white paper, almost a thesis, to explore the topic in great detail. I apologize for the length. The topic is much bigger than most of us can comprehend. Arizona is an experiment in America, and it’s commitment to educating its children. For most of modern American history, public education rested on a simple bargain. Communities established schools. Taxpayers supported them. And…
By Amaya Gregory Jesus, a brown-skinned man, was arrested by armed men in the middle of the night, put up for auction with Barabbas, and lost. His radical message, he message of anarchy, was simply too much for the establishment to allow as they shouted, ‘Kill him and bury him deep.’ What was his crime? Living as love, doing what love does, caring for the disenfranchised, speaking with women, dining with tax collectors, being compassionate to the sick, laying his healing hands on his beloveds, beckoning little children, all little children, to come to him. He was the original author…

Sedona,AZ — One of my greatest joys in life has always been bringing people together around a table for good food and good conversations. But not necessarily in a way where everyone sits politely with their pinkies in the air; I like gatherings to feel like the kind of trattoria I always search for when I’m in Tuscany: Big platters of late-summer heirloom tomatoes. Beautiful antipasti. Bowls of fresh pasta made for sharing. Rustic grilled meats and vegetables. The kind of meal where bottles of wine get passed around the table, and nobody is ever in a hurry to leave.…

The red rocks may be timeless, but the community is not. Sedona’s future must be governed by what it has become—not by nostalgia for what it once was. By Bear Howard and Associates, Sedona looks permanent. The red rocks appear eternal, its neighborhoods are tucked into the landscape, and the community carries the relaxed look of a Midwestern town that has sat undisturbed for 200 years. But modern Sedona is remarkably young. In 1955, 155 phone numbers were in the phonebook; about 200 to 300 families, fewer than 500-800 people, lived here. Early Sedona was not an affluent resort community.…
