Sedona AZ (January 29, 2019) – Sedona Public Library will feature a presentation on prehistoric fire-making techniques on Wednesday, February 6, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
Al Cornell, who was recently featured in an issue of Arizona Highways, will be the speaker. He is a recognized expert in primitive skills and survival-related training. He has a special expertise in ancient fire technologies.
He will demonstrate prehistoric to new-world fire starting methods and will discuss the ethnography of each method, including the hand drill, the bow drill and the arctic strap drill.
Cornell is also an active volunteer in Yavapai County’s Search and Rescue (SAR) unit. Since joining that team in 1995, Mr. Cornell has been on more than 250 search missions and has conducted more than 100 training sessions. He did two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and has also served as a military attaché in Central America.
