Verde Valley News – MATFORCE, a primary prevention organization with a focus on stopping youth drug use before it starts, continues the MATFORCE Messages virtual learning series with newly scheduled presentations. This virtual learning series covers a range of topics presented by subject matter experts with a focus on building healthier communities. Presentations are held virtually on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

April’s presentation, titled, “Youth, Marijuana and Violent Behavior – Is there a Connection?” is presented by Shelly Mowrey, AZ HIDTA Demand Reduction Coordinator and Detective Jason Felix, with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

Utilizing case studies and recent closed investigations, this eye-opening presentation will explore the intersection where marijuana and violence meet in our communities.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, “4 Steps for Helping Through a Crisis” will be presented by Nikki Rosson, Program Manager for MATFORCE, on Thursday, May 9, 2024. Nikki will discuss a four-step process to identify and support someone experiencing thoughts of suicide.

Discover how to connect them to lifesaving help in our community. Increase your understanding of signs and symptoms, and the importance of not being afraid to talk about suicide.

Registration is required for these free virtual presentations. For more information or to register visit matforce.org or call (928) 708-0100.
