… it was a beautiful day to be on the lake today and there were sights and beauty that you can only hope to experience once in a while. The lake is up a little over two feet since last Thursday and of course we were able to go back a lot further in the little back bays before we got stuck in water a little too shallow for the good ship Knot Yacht. More water, more shoreline and more time to cover the good hunting areas and today more incredible wildlife that kept us in places as they gave us their very best performances.

The shot above is of three- to five-year-old juvenile Bald Eagle just leaving his perch and if you look closely, you can see he still has one talon scraping the limb he is leaving as he powers into the air. Another year, maybe two he will grow the iconic white head and tail feathers of an adult after his annual molt.

Below is the weekly update on our Great Horned Owl … she has been sitting on her eggs for about ten days now and in about three weeks +/- the eggs will be hatching and then follows another period of nine to ten weeks before the young owls can fly. Weekly updates on the family!

Both shots in this email were taken with the new Canon 200-800 zoom lens from distances of about 100′ or more and the quality continues to amaze me.

The Red Tail Hawks that I kinda documented last year, have laid their eggs and are now sitting on them and I will begin a weekly photo update on them beginning Saturday morning … so if you are driving the loop road you will be seeing me in the tram about 150′ above the ground shooting to the west into the nest in the cliff side. We’re going to put a presentation of some kind together with this series.

A little weather coming in for the rest of the week … have a beautiful day, keep breathing, smile and be kind … life is a joy!

    Cheers,

After the day’s struggle, there is no freedom like
unfettered thoughts, no sounds like the music of
silence. And though behind you lies a road of dust
and heat, and before you the fear of untried paths, in
this brief hour you are master of all highways, and
the universe nestles in your soul. Therefore, in the
night, sit still a while and dream awake, ere you lie
    down to sleep.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
