    Forest Service to offer fee-free days

    Flagstaff AZ (January 16, 2013) – The U.S. Forest Service will join in the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, by waiving day-use fees on Jan. 21 that are associated with many recreation sites on the Coconino National Forest.

    This fee-free day is being offered in cooperation with other agencies that collect recreation fees under authority of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA), including: the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.

    As part of this nationwide event, fees will be waived for the entire Red Rock Pass area including Palatki and Honanki Ruins, V Bar V Cultural Site and approximately 300 miles of
     multiple-use trails.

    Sedona Gift Shop

    Areas not included in the fee waiver program are campgrounds and recreation areas managed under concession contract, such as Call of the Canyon, Grasshopper Point, and Crescent Moon Ranch.

    Additional fee waiver days planned in 2013 include:

    • June 8, National Get Outdoors Day
    • September 28, National Public Lands Day
    • November 9-11, Veterans Day Weekend
