Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)Sedona AZ (March 27, 2020) – Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) of Sedona•Verde Valley has announced the cancellation of classes for the 2020 Spring Term (from April 13 to May 21). No OLLI classes will be held at the YC Verde Valley Campus or the YC Sedona Center until further notice.

OLLI Sedona•Verde Valley offers academic, not-for-credit programming designed for adults aged 50 years and older at Yavapai College sites in Sedona and the Verde Valley. Due to the COVID 19 health crisis, the OLLI Sedona•Verde Valley Leadership Council decided to cancel the 2020 OLLI Spring Term.

OLLI members (from L to R): Patricia Lovelight, Ron Goldberg, Ken Bork, Ph.D., and Carla Williams

This is just one of many decisions made by Yavapai College and OLLI leadership to ensure the health of students, staff, facilitators, and our community. Linda Shook, Associate Dean and OLLI Director said, “We know COVID-19 has significantly worse outcomes in older adults, so deciding to cancel all OLLI classes and events for the immediate future is the most prudent step for our members.” This cancellation affects all OLLI lectures, Partner Programs, Special Interest Groups, and face to face committee meetings.

“In this time of self-isolation and social distancing, we encourage our members to use online social connections to engage with OLLI friends and facilitators,” says Linda Shook. “We will use the OLLI Facebook page and website page for updating members as the response to COVID-19 unfolds.” Please use these links or you OLLI updates: on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/olli.sedona.verdevalley/ or on the Yavapai College Website: https://yc.edu/ollisedonaverde, Information and updates will also be circulated in our weekly email newsletter.
