Wine & Dine in the Vines Fundraiser Celebrates Local Vintners, Fine Food and Scholarships, Oct 26 in Clarkdale

logo_southwestwinecenterClarkdale AZ (October 2, 2019) – Wine & Dine in the Vines – the Yavapai College culinary fundraiser that brings area vintners, local wines and delicious dining together around a gorgeous Arizona sunset – will return to YC’s Southwest Wine Center on the Verde Valley Campus, 601 Black Hills Drive in Clarkdale, Saturday, October 26, at 5 p.m.

Hosted by Yavapai College’s Friends of the Southwest Wine Center, Wine & Dine in the Vines has become a go-to social event for Arizona’s wine community. This year, Wine & Dine will play host to more than 32 winemakers, restaurant owners, local chefs and this year’s featured performer, classically trained violinist Jonathan Levingston.

Set against the gorgeous vistas and fertile fields of the Southwest Wine Center’s teaching winery, Wine & Dine vendors will offer tastings of their favorite dishes and libations in a festival atmosphere of live music, winery tours, animated conversation and the chance to meet and greet Arizona’s top vintners and chefs.

Wine & Dine in the Vines also offers patrons an up-close view of the wine-making process, from the vineyards to the taste buds. Sample the student-crafted wines from the Southwest Wine Center and compare them to those produced by some of Arizona’s best wineries.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased at www.yc.edu/WineAndDine. Proceeds from the evening will benefit scholarships at Yavapai College and the Southwest Wine Center. For more information, contact Mary Talosi, at Mary.Talosi@yc.edu or call 928-776-2359. Yavapai College Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Tickets are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
