VERDE VALLEY, Ariz. —  Soon Arizona motorists will have an eye-catching and tangible way to help support  Arizona wineries.
The Verde Valley Wine Trail is pleased to announce the launch of its Northern Arizona Wine Trail specialty plate, now available for both vehicles and motorcycles through the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles.
Screenshot 2025 12 17 at 5.40.05 PMThe specialty license plate features rows of beautiful grapevines complete with colorful clusters of grapes, adorned by scenic red rock mountains on both sides and the phrase “Take The Scenic Route.”
Sterling West, a Sedona-based muralist, portrait artist and plein air painter, designed the artwork for the license plate.
His vibrant, energetic work aims to perfectly capture the spirit of the Southwest and its burgeoning wine industry.
As Paula Woolsey, President of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium notes, proceeds from the sale of the license plate will be an ongoing fundraiser for the Verde Valley Wine Trail 501(c)3, with the money going towards the support of Arizona wineries.
“The Verde Valley Wine Trail plays a key role in educating and supporting a number of important topics related to Arizona’s vibrant and booming wine industry,” Woolsey said adding that over 28 wineries are located in the north central region of Arizona, which farm more than 136 acres of wine grapes.
“For instance, grape farming is a low water usage crop with a high dollar return,” she said.  “We educate grape growers and wineries on sustainable farming practices, and we also support a myriad of not-for-profits that help people affected by alcoholism and abuse. With on-going funding, thanks to sales of the new Northern Arizona Wine Trail specialty plate, the Verde Valley Wine Trail is determined to become a driving economic force for continued growth of the region while promoting water-friendly vineyard development, encouraging sustainable agricultural practices and paving the way for industry professionals to advocate for responsible drinking.”
Woolsey is looking forward to the official launch of the colorful and attractive new license plate, which in turn will help make every mile matter for Arizona wineries.
“When people purchase this license plate, they will be helping to preserve the places they love to explore,” she said.
