Verde Valley News – Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce its upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Comedy Night on Friday, November 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Jerome Elks Club in Clarkdale. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a night dedicated to honoring the hard work and dedication of Habitat volunteers, filled with food, fun, and laughter.

The evening will feature a special performance by “Bubbles Moscawitz” during a dinner catered by Vinnie’s, serving up delicious ziti and pizza. As part of the event, Verde Valley Habitat will recognize volunteers who have contributed significant hours to Habitat’s mission, including two new honors this year:

    • Home Builders Club Trophy: Awarded to volunteers with over 1,000 hours of service.

    • President’s Volunteer Service Award: A nationally certified recognition for extraordinary commitment to service.

Additionally, one outstanding volunteer will receive the Hollister Heart of Habitat Award, celebrating their exceptional dedication to the Habitat community.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the renowned comedy improv group, Sedona Zenprov, bringing laughter and joy to the celebration. This event promises to be a fantastic night filled with gratitude, camaraderie, and comedy.

“We look forward to celebrating our amazing volunteers who give their time, skills, and heart to build homes, communities, and hope,” said Tania Simms, Executive Director of Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity. “Their commitment to our mission makes a powerful difference, and this night is just a small way of saying ‘thank you’ for all that they do.”

    The Politics of Pain

If there’s one thing nearly every living organism on this planet shares, it is the ability to feel pain. The pain of hunger. Of loneliness. Of illness. The pain of broken bones and broken bodies, broken hearts and broken homes. The pain of poverty, depression, the death of someone we love—and, eventually, the anticipation of our own death. Pain, in all its shapes and shadows, is the one certainty life gives us all. No one escapes it.
