Cottonwood AZ (January 30, 2017) – Verde Valley Fire District responded to report of a vehicle fire on Sunday January 29, 2017 at Thousand Trails Road, approximately 8:55am. Upon arrival the Engine Company found a fully evolved pickup truck. Crews deployed an attack line and extinguished the fire. A Water Tender was also utilizing for additional water source.
The owner of the vehicle suffered minor burns and was treated on scene. There were no other injuries and the cause of the fire appeared to be an accident from a discarded match after lighting his cigarette.
Verde Valley Fire District would like to remind everyone to make sure all ignition sources are completely out before discarding and metal containers are ideal for discarding matches and smoke items.
