… lots of work on a photo project this weekend and going through a lot of older folders; in doing so I came on this shot of a Daffodil that I shot back in 2005 late in the day in March … it was in front of the deck of friends who lived on the then 8th tee box and nestled in close to the wall beneath the deck. There was a light rain and the flowers had beautiful rain drops on them. I took the shot with an Olympus E-1 camera that had 5MP … not very big by todays standards, but more than sufficient to get an image than can easily be blown up to 20 x 30 and retain high quality. I was always pleased with the E-1 and have many wonderful shots from them … I owned several of them … they were good pixels!

We’re into a new week … Monday is here and methinks it looks like a very good week is underway. The hardest thing I am having on the book is narrowing the selection of photos down. I shoot tens of thousands of images every year, but a relative handful standout from the rest, like this daffodil … the problem being that after so many years shooting, those handfuls of exceptional and memorable photos add up to a pretty big number. So, later this morning after some rest and refueling with espresso I will wade in with a vengeance and do the deed.

Have a beautiful day, whatever you are doing, keep breathing and share a smile with those you meet and greet.

    Cheers

    Ted

Though changed as are my songs from youth,
A voice within my heart still sings,
Live thou in tenderness and truth,
And love mankind instead of things.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
