… is from about 12,000’, above the clouds and looking from south at the bottom to north at the top. Most of Sedona is included in this shot I took this morning … in the lower right quadrant you have the Chapel area, looking upstream, Oak Creek runs from just right at the bottom. Along the base of Airport Mesa, through Uptown and then ducks into Oak Creek Canyon just behind Wilson Mountain which is above the north end of the airport. Hillside, Tlaquepaque and Uptown are all on the right side of the photograph.
SR 179 enters the photo in the lower right side of the photo and all the aforementioned developments are on either side of it. Cutting to the left from the Y, above and right of Airport Mesa, is SR89A and most of West Sedona. SR 89A heads south through West Sedona and heads down to Cottonwood after leaving Sedona. Lower left along the bottom is part of the Loop area. The airport is pretty much front and center and this gives you a pretty good look at it. Sound goes up, so even with all the traffic, both conventional and jet that we have, the town has a minimal impact from the airport … and it is one of the most beautiful and challenging airports in the country.
Cloud base was only around 8500’ and cloud tops about 10,500’, but rose as you traveled north over the plateau.
It was a fun and beautiful flight … the way that I look at it!
Keep breathing and smiling … life and everything in it is beautiful.
Cheers,
Ted
A bird flies through the sky, and I fly with it. I am each pearl of moisture sparkling in the sun.
I lie lazy on the clouds. And I acknowledge my kinship with each winged thing.
I see all as one, and nothing repels me, as this new day climbs noiselessly out of the valley of the night.
Peace lies over the world and over the world of my soul.
