… cutting and stuff in the morning and after a nice lunch at the Sedona Golf Resort it was down to the ponds for a walk and see what I could get with the camera. They were removing sludge from the bottom of several ponds and so most of the ducks were on a few of the ponds that were relatively undisturbed and pretty much just basking in the warm afternoon sun. Got a few shots of some incomings and of those I liked this one the best … the small claws on the webbed feet were just beginning to break the surface of the water as they were being rotated forward for landing and the tail feathers had been in the water for about five feet … next she arched back, wings flared and touched down on the bottom of her webbed feet. Anyhow it is kind of a funky shot … perhaps the headless duck to match the headless horseman ? Oh well, a somewhat weak attempt at humor … actually it is pathetic.

After leaving the ponds, I stopped by “not just any John’s” gallery for a visit (http://www.johnsoderberg.com/index.html  ) and then to KSB to give Derek a hand and thence to the Wildflower Bakery for a large sugar free vanilla latte to enjoy on the way home. A quiet evening and ready to get some more opals finished in the morning … flying is also a real possibility and then 5PM to KSB for free food and to enjoy Derek’s slide show/video presentation. Hope you can make it and a fun evening it shall be.  http://keepsedonabeautiful.org/

A short one tonight … have a terrific day and share your joy … it is a wonderful world … we’re fortunate.

    Cheers

…I yield myself to the thousand enchantments of sky and field and wood,
and play again like a child on the soft green of the earth.
And as the God of the universe has made thee to bloom in tenderness,
so also may my heart be made to bloom again.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
