    … this is a portrait of a Cormorant that I took at Watson Lake, last year; they are an amazingly beautiful creature and this one was standing on a rock out in the lake and far from shore … the eyes are simply beautiful.

    Hard to believe that next week we close out August and work our way into September and the fall season … hoping that this year there will be some beautiful fall colors around the lake; some of the deciduous trees growing out of the rocks will be amazing if we get good color … last year was a bit of a disappointment in that regard … so here’s hoping. Fall is my season of the year going back as far as I can remember. Good memories of hunting in the Minnesota River bottoms, western Minnesota and South Dakota. Fun years and fun days … life spent in the real world, not the device in the palm of our hands. Still hoping to get out on Watson Lake this week. If you have never been to the lake you owe it to yourself to make the trek and experience it … about an hour from Sedona.

    Closing out another week … enjoy the rest of the week and weekend … back Monday morning … keep breathing and smiling.

    Cheers
    Ted

    Lift my eyes from the earth, and let me not forget the uses of the stars.
    Forbid that I should judge others, lest I condemn myself.
    Let me not follow the clamor of the world, but walk calmly in my path.
    Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am;
    And keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
